IBM Sues Its Ex-Employee for Leaving for Apple
Bitter corporate battle over employees still exist no matter how big or small the company is. I just don’t understand the whole point of it though. Once an employee is out of the door, what’s the point of fighting over him or trying to stop him from working for your competitors? If he has decided to work for someone then he’d do it anyway. Well, I would. Then what’s the point of trying to make his life miserable? Well, I just don’t get it. May be some of you do.
Anyway, IBM sued its ex-employee for joining Apple claiming that Mark Papermaster who joined Apple last month had agreed not to join any of IBM’s competitors for at least 1 year. But the former International Business Machines Corp. executive mark papermaster claimed that his move to Apple inc. to oversee development of its iPod and iPhone devices doesn’t violate a non-compete agreement he signed at IBM. I am hoping he’s right and he doesn’t have to face any consequences for leaving for a company and job he likes more.
