What is Google PageRank or PR?
If you’re a webmaster then you may know what Google PageRank is and how it works. You may also know what important role it plays for your website. Even though most of us have an understanding of this technology, a lot of the time I’ve seen webmasters misinterpret it. Coming across so many of those misinterpretation, I finally thought I’ll explain it on my own words and give some official reference so that next time I see someone having slightest doubt about it I can then refer them to this article. I tried to write it in the simplest way possible so that people who aren’t familiar with this term or technology can understand it very easily. So, hopefully after reading this article you’ll know exactly what PR is and how it works.

Google SearchWiKi: Personalizing Your Search
Google is in the news lately. First they released customized themes for Gmail then announced the end of Lively and today Google launched SearchWiki, a new feature that allows users to personalize their search results. Users can now add, delete and re-rank their own search results. You can also comment and write notes attached to a particular site. You just have to be logged into Google account to do all these.

Why Google Must Die. What!?!
Just finished reading this interesting article by John C. Dvorak at PC Magazine. After reading the article I felt like I just wasted my time. I am sorry but after reading the article I felt like the author doesn’t have any clue about SEO or how the whole technology works. He couldn’t prove any of his own points nor could he give any real life example. The author sounds like he doesn’t have any idea about Google’s different Data Centers and how that effects search results. Instead he was focusing his arguments on how the results may vary if you’re logged into your Google account. There’s also something called “Personalized Search” and I bet the author doesn’t have any clue about that either.

Yahoo! Faces Financial Downfall
Looks like Yahoo! is facing the downturn of US economy. The third quarter disappoints have put Yahoo! into pressure to cut down 10 percent of it’s global employees by the end of the year. And that’s a huge cut for a company that has about 14000 employees. The net profit of the company fell 64%, to $54.3 million, or 4¢ a share. Compared to the same time last year, a 1% increase in gross revenues, to $1.79 billion.

Cuil - Google Killer or Just another Cuil (cool) kid in the block?!?
A new Search Engine named Cuil (pronounced Cool) has gone live today with 120 billion (121,617,892,992 web pages to be more specific) indexed web pages, which is triple the amount of Google and Ten times more than Microsoft. So what’s so special about this search engine that got people talking about it? We’ve seen many search engines come and go. Is there anything special about this new search engine that may give search technology an all new direction? Well, not many people trend to think so. If you’ve started thinking it as Google rival then you’re not wrong but you’re not right either. You’re not wrong because Cuil is the brainchild of former Google architect and technical lead Anna Patterson. Anna was the architect of Google’s large search index, TeraGoogle and the technical lead of one of the two Web ranking groups at Google. So you see, the trend of making change is there. But would it be the Google “Killer”? Tech world don’t seem to think so. And as long as Google is concerned, they don’t seem to be worried at all. Continue Reading »
